25m pool upgrade from 25 April to mid-August 2025

Our 25m pool is undergoing some essential works, including removing the existing pool liner and replacing it with modern tiles and giving it a fresh new look as well as ensuring our high safety standards are maintained.

The 25m pool and leisure pool will be closed from 25 April 2025 until an anticipated re-opening in mid-August. However, we will keep all members and patrons updated as works progress.

During this period, the 50m pool, spa, sauna, steam room and other amenities will remain open for your use. Please note, the 50m pool will be set up for 25m lanes during this project to cater to all existing user groups, members, swim schools and other activities.

We thank all members and patrons for their understanding and patience while these important upgrades are completed. Please see some frequently asked questions below – if you have any further questions, please contact us on 9795 2222.

FAQs

  • The 25m pool and leisure pool will be closed from Friday, 25 April 2025 until an anticipated re-opening in mid-August, however we will keep all members and patrons updated as works progress.

  • The 25m pool and leisure pool will be closed to allow the South West Sports Centre to conduct some essential works, including removing the existing pool liner and replacing it with modern tiles and giving it a fresh new look as well as ensuring our high safety standards are maintained.

The current liner is failing and needs replacement. Through a consultant, tiling has been provided as a better more effective long-term solution to ensure that the asset continues to have an extended useful life.

  • This is a significant sized project which includes various elements from emptying the pools, removing the liner, installing new tiles and refilling and testing the pools prior to re-opening. It is being anticipated the pools will re-open in mid-August 2025, however all South West Sports Centre members and patrons will be kept up to date via email and our social media platforms ahead of the re-opening.

  • The 25m pool, leisure pool and slide will be closed during this period with construction fencing being installed around the entire 25m pool and leisure pool.

There will be some noise associated with these works, predominantly in the aquatics area. However, noise may also be heard from the café, gym and reception. The works carried out from 25 April to 15 July (11 weeks) will be the more significant noise periods with the rest of the project expected to have minimal noise disturbance.

If you are concerned about potential noise, we suggest planning your visit to avoid times between 6.45am to 4.00pm weekdays (during the dates indicated above).

  • During this period, the 50m pool, spa, sauna, steam room and other amenities will remain open for your use. Please note, the 50m pool will be set up for 25m lanes during this project to cater for all existing user groups, members, swim schools and other activities.

  • To best accommodate our existing pool bookings and user groups, the 50m pool will be running as a 25m pool configuration. This means there will be twenty lanes in the 50m pool available. This configuration will maximise pool space, providing space for other patrons to use the facility.

  • We will not be taking any new bookings during this time, and we will endeavour to accommodate all existing bookings.

  • To minimise disruptions, all swim school lessons will take place in the 50m pool during this time. To make the transition as comfortable as possible, we will be slightly increasing the pool temperature. We will be running 25m lanes to create more space to accommodate everyone.

Swim school participants have been contacted directly. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us on 9795 2251.

  • Lessons are moving to the 50m pool to continue providing students a valuable experience when it comes to learning to swim. The move to the 50m pool will also provide students with exposure and experience in a deeper pool with a slightly different temperature.

  • Yes, you can contact the Swim School Office to place your child’s lessons on hold during this time up until Friday 16 May 2025. This means you will not be charged until the 25m pool and leisure pool re-opens. The Swim School Office will contact you when lessons and payments resume in the 25m and leisure pool.

  • Yes, you can cancel your lessons at any time during this period and be added back to the waitlist until you wish to return however our existing Swim School policies still apply and it should be noted that our current waitlist is quite long and you will not be guaranteed a spot once the 25m and leisure pool re-open.

  • We will be offering a grace/trial period until the end of week three in Term 2 (Friday, 16 May 2025). If the pool gets too cold for a student, there is an option to either suspend or cancel lessons. After this period, we will assess each situation individually and advise on the best option.
