The City of Bunbury has an amazing opportunity for local students to spread their wings and immerse themselves in Japanese culture!
The City of Bunbury and the City of Setagaya (Tokyo, Japan) have enjoyed a Sister City relationship since 1992. One of our longstanding programs is the annual Goodwill Student Exchange where up to 16 students from Bunbury visit Setagaya, and then in return, Setagaya students visit Bunbury.
This successful program has seen many friendships formed and offers the opportunity for young students to expand their horizons.
The tour will take place during the September/October school holidays and is open to all Year 6 and Year 7 students and interested accompanying adults this year.
Up to 16 students and four accompanying adults will have the opportunity to join the tour to meet the Mayor of Setagaya, visit beautiful Hakone and see Mt. Fuji, enjoy a homestay experience with a Japanese family, and visit Tokyo Disneyland.
They will showcase their talents in schools in Setagaya and learn through a series of workshops about the arts and culture of Japan, both ancient and modern.
We will also be holding two information sessions at BREC (Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre) in March which are free to attend. These are a good opportunity to hear from past tour participants and organisers, as well as to get answers to your questions.
