The Bunbury Public Library is now a learning destination for Children’s University.

Who is Children’s University?

Children’s University is an innovative program that engages children and young people in exciting, out-of-school learning opportunities to increase their chances for educational achievement and rewards them for taking responsibility for their own learning.

The program opens a world of learning possibilities to young minds — by fostering wellbeing and encouraging children to discover new passions, visit new places and, above all, have fun!

This is achieved by providing local Learning Destinations such as the Bunbury Public Library, zoos, parks, museums, art galleries, and other organisations.

All Children’s University learning experiences are designed to have links to university courses and take place outside of the classroom, for example during lunchtime, after school, weekends, and holidays.

Through a Passport to Learning, members will receive milestone stamps for learning hours logged. A minimum of one hour of learning is required to be eligible for a stamp. Hours of participation are recognised each year through a formal on-campus graduation to celebrate children’s achievements.

Children’s University members can earn up to 2 hours a day in their Passport to Learning when joining any of the library's regular programs, school holiday activities, or by simply utilising the space for learning. For instance, when reading a library book, children can complete a read-and-review form and present it to their school coordinator to earn points.
