This is a free event - please RSVP via Eventbrite for catering purposes.

Bringing history to the forefront, the History's Mysteries Young Writers Competition challenges students to imagine the history behind a selection of significant museum artefacts and tell it in a short story.

This year's theme is the old Turkey Point Holiday Resort.

Selected items include two maritime lanterns found at the bottom of Koombana Bay by the Bunbury Sea Scouts during the 1950s, the wheel of the Valdemar, the ferry which transported holiday goers and a collection of photographs and ephemera showing glimpses of the resort in its heyday.

Established in 2022, the competition has now expanded in 2023 to include Primary School entrants as well as High School students.

This competition was also the winner of an Interpretation, Learning and Audience Engagement award at the 2023 Australian Museums and Galleries National Conference.
