Uncovering the stories of Carey Park

Help us uncover the untold stories of Carey Park.

Carey Park has a rich history since its beginnings as one of the first government housing developments following World War II, and by 1960, it was a suburb of 6,000 people or almost half the population of Bunbury!

In 2025, we want to tell the story of this diverse and dynamic suburb. We are looking for people to share their memories, photos and objects. From local legends to untold stories, we want to capture those narratives to paint the history of Carey Park through to the present day.

Join us at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre for a memory session that recognises the history of Carey Park and shares memories of the people and places that have shaped this community.

Maybe you have memories of going to Carey Park Primary School or playing with the football club. Maybe you had a win at the Bunbury Cup or remember visits to the Frankel Street shops.

This event is part of the background research being done for an upcoming 2025 exhibition about Carey Park. You can help us by sharing your personal memories, local knowledge and photos.

Or you can just sit back, enjoy your tea and scones, and listen to some yarns.
