Published 03 October 2024, updated 04 October 2024

The City has a plethora of infrastructure projects currently happening across Bunbury. These are in addition to our everyday work such as parks and reserves maintenance, waste, asset maintenance, and more. You can also check out our projects page here, for updates on some of the bigger project updates. Here’s this month’s snapshot of what’s in the works!

Projects Completed in September

The City replaced the outdated cool room at the Old Station Café with two standalone fridges, providing the same storage volume for the cafe operators.

Current Projects in Process

Frank Buswell upgrades continue

Expansion of the Frank Buswell Foreshore pathway continues with the former concrete footpath being upgraded to a three-metre-wide red asphalt shared path between King Road and Albert Road, further improving the popular Leschenault Inlet trail. Path upgrades are expected to be completed soon and will reopen however, there may be some closures in place while landscaping is complete.

Frank Buswell Foreshore

As part of these broader foreshore precinct upgrades, the design work to renew and improve the drainage network at Creek Street is also complete and is currently in the programming stage.  Read more about the entire foreshore upgrades here.

Preparation for Local Area Traffic Management and reseal works along Austral Parade are underway, further improving this popular route for road users and the local community. Traffic calming platforms are also planned for this area later in the year.

Alyxia Drive mods complete

Drainage modifications at Alyxia Drive are complete, and kerbing on a new roundabout as part of our Local Area Traffic Management will start this month.

Pelican Point jetty repairs

The City is waiting on a structure report for the Pelican Point jetty repairs before a plan of attack is considered.

Forrest Park progressing well

Redevelopment of the Forrest Park Pavilion is progressing with a lot of the building work mostly complete and electrical and mechanical testing underway. Find out more about this project here.

Upgrades to the carpark area and Peppermint Tree-lined access road at Forrest Park are also starting to take shape. Kerbing is complete and new asphalt has been laid at the carpark, with work this month also set to start on accessibility bays. The access road has been kerbed and asphalt will go down this month.

New footpath

As a part of the City’s ongoing work to provide safe and connected communities, the extension of the path between Cousins Avenue and Parade Road on Cranbrook Way will start this month.

Boulters Heights next stage

Procurement is underway for the design and construction of the next stage of the Boulters Heights boardwalk and staircase upgrades, extending the staircase to Picton Way. Check out the Boulters Heights master plan here.
