Christmas in the City carols concert at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.

Every year before Bunbury’s incredible event season kicks off, the City closes the Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell for maintenance and cleaning to support our community groups running their events.

With the Bunbury City Band Concert and Bunbury Pridefest set to be the first major events at this community space from 17 November, the music shell will be closed from Monday 4 November.

This allows our staff enough time to get in and undertake maintenance, including cleaning, repairs, painting, and minor upgrades so the space is suitable for events.

As happens every year, fences will be erected to allow this work to be done as quickly as possible.

To the best of our ability and with the support of local outreach agencies, the City is providing advanced notice of the closure both verbally and with a flyer to community members known to frequent this area and providing details of local support services.

As many are aware, homelessness is a complex issue that requires a multi-agency approach. We know this is an important issue in our community, and the City is continuing to provide support and collaborate with the relevant service providers and organisations.

The City continues to support the State Government’s Housing First Strategy while also advocating and working with local agencies regarding the broader and very complex issue of homelessness.

To read more about the work we are doing in this space, go here, acknowledging that while there is a lot of work to do to address homelessness, the City believes it is working hard on behalf of its community.

We look forward to Bunbury’s summer events season providing a number of family-friendly, fun, and exciting events our entire community can enjoy.
