The beach wheelchairs are located in the storage shed adjacent to the Koombana Bay kiosk and require a key to access. This can be picked up at the Bunbury Visitor Centre at 4 Stephen Street/13A Prinsep Street Bunbury. Please call 9792 7206 for more information.
The Visitor Centre also has a loan key (MLAK) available for eligible users to access the Changing Places facility at Koombana Bay.
Changing Places provide suitable facilities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets and allows people with high support needs to fully participate in the community.
Details on the Changing Places facility and other Changing Places across Australia as well as how eligible people and organisations can request a MLAK can be found here.
The City also has access to a Freedom Trax - a device that fits on to a wheelchair to enable the user to access areas which may have been inaccessible such as sand and trail.
This is located at the Dolphin Discovery Centre and is perfect for beach use. Bookings are required to use the Freedom Trax, please contact the City on 9792 7000.
The Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury also has beach wheelchairs available for use.
Beach matting has been also been installed at Koombana Bay allowing for easier access to the beach and is located in the shade sail area.
