Hear the incredible stories of some of the South West's unsung WWI heroes from descendants and historians.

Celebrate International Nurses Day with a unique experience this year.

Hear local author, Jeffrey Peirce, discuss his mission to research and honour the wartime nurses of the South West, which has unearthed countless incredible stories. These will be brought to life by descendants of the nurses, who will share their perspectives on these impressive women. The presentations will end with a Question & Answer session.

Thousands of women served as nurses in the first World War, working tirelessly to save lives at great risk to themselves. Their stories, full of heartache and heroism, tragedy and triumph, are seldom heard, and their service is seldom commemorated. Jeff's work aims to change this by broadcasting them to as large an audience as possible. For more information or to purchase a copy of Great War Stories 1914-1918 Nurses of the South West, visit the Great War Stories website.

Presenters will include:

Eileen Mounsey - Descendant of Nurse Eulalie Hamersley

Russell Smith - Descendant, Nurse Evelyn Mary Roberts

Jillian Italiano & Sherry Lewis - Descendants of Nurse Elma Linklater

Ruth Letts - Curator, Fremantle Hospital Museum presenting the story of Nurse Irene Kiernan

Jeffrey Peirce - Author, Great War Stories 1914-1918 Nurses of the South West

The Museum will also be displaying collection items that illustrate the stories of our nurses.

Afternoon tea will be provided at this free event. For parking and facilities information, visit our website.
