The Transforming Bunbury's Waterfront Stage 2 works to upgrade the Jetty Road causeway are due to start soon.
To improve access and amenity for harbour users, pedestrian and vehicle traffic the Department of Transport is refurbishing the length of the Jetty Road causeway. The $10.8 million causeway works are expected to start in August this year and continue through to late 2019. The work will be split between two contracts, one for reconstruction of the rock revetments and the other for civil works including services (power, water, sewer, communications), road, parking, paths, retaining walls and landscaping.
The Department of Transport will work with contractors during construction to minimise disruptions to the community and harbour users.
The works are a precursor to future Casuarina Boat Harbour development. More information on the project can be found at https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/projects/casuarina-boat-harbour.asp. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet is available on the website and will be regularly updated during the works.
Ahead of the Department of Transport works, the City of Bunbury is widening Jetty Road from its commencement at Casuarina Drive through to the start of the causeway to improve access, particularly for larger vehicles coming to and from the causeway. These works involve widening the road pavement, drainage adjustments and kerbing, and will commence on Wednesday 13th June for a period of approximately 4 weeks.
