The Bunbury CBD is undergoing a seasonal spruce up in a bid to have it looking its best in time for the warmer weather.
Landscaping has begun with planting and mulching in the CBD’s roundabouts, median strips and planter boxes to upgrade the existing garden beds.
The Landscape and Open Space team has also been hard at work improving the City’s reticulation to ensure we remain water wise.
These works are part of the City of Bunbury’s ongoing efforts to improve the vibrancy and amenity of the CBD.
In October the Waste Services team will take over with a high-pressure clean of all the CBD’s footpaths, kerbs and any other City assets which need cleaning – the cleaners have a scrubbing attachment which will be used to target ground in dirt on the pavers and chewing gum removal.
Street and pavement sweepers will also be on hand to collect and remove litter and residue from the clean.
Path drainage and car parking bay corners will also be targeted as well the median strips and islands.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said this new initiative will happen twice per year – before summer and winter – to ensure the look of the CBD is kept to a high standard.
“This project is just one of the many ways the City of Bunbury is committed to enhancing the CBD for the community, visitors and tourists,” Mayor Brennan said.
“We are proud of our CBD and this spring clean will have it looking aesthetically pleasing as well as allowing it to be easier to maintain throughout the year.”
Other improvements earmarked for the CBD include repairs to City-owned infrastructure, painting, introducing a consistent colour palette throughout the CBD, replace lighting with LEDs and replacing outdated and damaged banners with new banners to promote City news and events.
