The City of Bunbury is calling upon passionate young people who want to make a difference in their community to represent their peers on the Youth Advisory Council (YAC).
YAC is a committee of Bunbury City Council which advocates for the young people of Greater Bunbury as well as running events such as the annual Shift Youth Festival and has also taken the lead role in the development of Bunbury’s Youth Precinct.
Young people aged from 12 to 25 are being encouraged to apply with 14 spots available including the position of Youth Mayor.
Current Youth Mayor Sean Smith said being a part of YAC gave members the opportunity to empower young people to have a voice in the community.
“Our vision is celebrating and advocating young people and their communities,” Youth Mayor Smith said.
“I would encourage anyone with ideas, initiative and a desire to represent Bunbury youth to apply and to support our mission which is to challenge expectations and assumptions, activate places and spaces, and empower young people to have a voice.”
Applicants can nominate for a two-year term starting October 2019 and can be residents of the City Bunbury or Shires of Capel, Dardanup or Harvey.
Applications are now open and interested applicants can apply here
