The Council is the governing body of the City of Bunbury and is responsible for making decisions that guide the City's strategic direction, financial sustainability, service delivery, and future growth. Council decisions influence a broad range of local matters, including planning and development, community wellbeing, environmental sustainability, economic development, infrastructure, and the delivery of services and facilities to the community.
The Council comprises the Mayor and eight Councillors. The Mayor is elected by the community for a four-year term, while Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with ordinary elections held every two years to elect half of the Council. This staggered election process supports continuity in leadership and decision-making.
