Hard and Green Waste Collection
City of Bunbury residents receive free hard and green waste verge collections twice a year.
Hard Waste and Green Waste collection dates
Guidelines for placing hard and green waste on the verge
- Maximum of three cubic meters per household
- All items (including branches) maximum 1.5 meters long
- Place waste on the verge, about one metre (1m) back from the kerb, taking care not to obstruct footpaths or create a safety hazard.
- Items should be placed clear of vehicles, trees and sprinklers to allow pick-up by a contractors bobcat and truck.
- Do not place hard or green waste out for more than two weeks before collection dates. IMPORTANT NOTE: $200 INFRINGEMENT MAY APPLY TO WASTE BEING LEFT ON VERGE OUTSIDE OF THESE DATES
- Hard and green waste collections are for residential properties only, it does not include commercial properties or schools.
Green Waste Collection
Items we collect
- Tree and shrub prunings up to 1.5m in length
- Lawn clippings
- Leaves
- Logs and stumps (less than 200mm in diameter)
Items We Don’t Collect
- Branches over 1.5m long
- Logs over 200mm in diameter
- Sand and soil
- Treated timber
- Clippings in plastic bags
Hard Waste Collection
Items we collect
- Whitegoods e.g. fridges, stoves (detached doors from fridges and freezers, if fitted with a mechanical latch).
- Furniture
- General junk such as old lawn mowers and barbecues
- Treated timber
- Mattresses
- Old carpet
Items we don’t collect
- Building materials such as bricks, rubble, sand, concrete or cement
- Motor vehicle parts or tyres
- Asbestos or fibre cement products
- Flammable or chemical liquids (including paint and oil)*
- Green waste
- Electronic waste such as computers*
- Gas bottles
- Commercial crates/pallets
Materials marked with an asterix (*) can be taken to a drop off centre for appropriate recycling and special disposal.
Non-compliant items will be left and the resident will be responsible for the removal and correct disposal of these items. A letter from the City of Bunbury will be placed in your letter box explaining why the items were left behind and advice on how to dispose of them.
