Community invited to engage on proposed Civic and Cultural Precinct

Monday, 11 November 2019

The community will be invited to find out more about the proposed Civic and Cultural Precinct during a public forum later this month.

The Civic and Cultural Precinct Forum will be held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Thursday 28 November from 6pm to 8pm.

Mayor Gary Brennan and CEO Mal Osborne will be on hand to answer any questions and to share information on the proposed project.

The session will be hosted by Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre Chair Simon Jacob.

The Civic and Cultural Precinct has been proposed for development on Wittenoom Street and could include multi-deck parking, expanded art gallery space and community spaces dependant on community feedback and available funding.

A business case is to be prepared for the project and it will outline the feasibility and preferred elements of any development. The business case is expected to be completed mid-2020.

The forum will be held as an outcome of the General Electors Meeting called in relation to the precinct.

Mayor Brennan said no further funding had been allocated to the project and community consultation and engagement will continue before any decisions are made.

“I encourage the community to attend the forum to find out all of the facts surrounding the Civic and Cultural Precinct,” Mayor Brennan said.

“There will be plenty of opportunity for residents to have their say and to also share their views.

“This could be a major project for Bunbury and we want to ensure we get it right and have the community and stakeholders on board.”

The forum is open to all members of the community. To register please visit Eventbrite here
