The City of Bunbury would like to congratulate the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre (BREC) board, staff and volunteers on being awarded the inaugural Western Australian Pinnacle for Presenter of the Year by CircuitWest.

The award was voted for by industry peers on providing excellence in performing arts and was part of The Pinnacles Awards at this year’s WA Showcase.

WA Showcase is an annual WA Performing Arts event which includes a four-day program of speakers, workshops and pitching events. The Pinnacles were announced on Thursday 23 May during WA Showcase.

Other nominees for Presenter of the Year were Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and Ravensthorpe Arts Council.

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the award cemented the BREC’s reputation as a world-class entertainment venue.

“On behalf of Council I would like to congratulate the sensational team at BREC for all their hard work and dedication for ensuring the facility continues to provide the community with stellar entertainment year round,” Mayor Brennan said.

“I encourage the community to rediscover our City’s vibrant nightlife with a visit to BREC for an experience to remember.”

CircuitWest Executive Director Ryan Taafe said the win would see more acts likely to tour the South West.

“This is a significant win for WA performing arts as we work to been seen amongst Australia’s best and get more focus on the region,” Mr Taafe said.

“The people who live in the City of Bunbury and the rest of South West WA should be aware of the quality of the venue they have available to them.”

BREC Executive Director Fiona de Garis said the team was honoured to be chosen as WA Presenter of the Year.

“Not only for our outstanding program, but also for the excellent service our staff and our many volunteers provide to the people of Bunbury Geographe and the South West,” Ms de Garis said.

“BREC aims to offer all members of our community a chance to come together and share creative, entertaining and transformative experiences, and it is encouraging to be recognised for our efforts through this award.”
