Bunbury City Council will work with the State Government to ensure Bunbury receives sufficient recognition and promotion with the planned northern intersection of the Outer Ring Road.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan met with Premier Hon. Mark McGowan MLA and Member for Bunbury Don Punch MLA on Friday during the Premier’s visit to Bunbury, where the Premier announced a number of important funding initiatives for Bunbury.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the City of Bunbury’s recently adopted annual budget and to update the Premier on key developments currently underway and planned for Bunbury.
Prior to Friday’s meeting, the Premier had written to the Mayor, advising the City’s preferred option for the Bunbury Outer Ring Road and Forrest Highway northern intersection could not proceed due to potential environmental impacts.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan appreciated the opportunity to discuss with the Premier, current and future projects for Bunbury and acknowledged the Government’s position on the Outer Ring Road.
“We thank the Premier for his visit on Friday and for sharing our excitement with some key developments for Bunbury and his consideration of the Outer Ring Road,” he said.
“We acknowledge the environmental impact concerns with the alternatives that have been explored and the Bunbury City Council and the State Government must now work to ensure motorists are well aware of the planned changes.
“The use of highly visible signage north of the proposed intersection and landscaping will play a key role in maximising the outcomes of this project for Bunbury”.
