A Christmas themed virtual reality experience is just one of the many activities taking place at this year’s Christmas in the City event on Sunday 8 December.
The Apprentice and Traineeship Company Carols Concert and RAC Street Parade will also return as part of the festivities.
The community is invited to this free family-friendly event at Bicentennial Square and the Graham Bricknell Shell.
This year the parade will feature up to 45 Christmas themed floats and entertainers travelling through the Bunbury CBD spreading joyful cheer.
Bicentennial Square will be decked out in festive splendour including Christmas-themed activities, arts and crafts workshops, market stalls, food trucks and a host of other free activities.
For the first time there will be a virtual reality experience for revellers to take part in.
As the sun begins to set festival goers can make their way to the Graham Bricknell Shell for the concert – coordinated by Good Nights – and be entertained by carollers and entertainers.
The audience will be encouraged to sing along to all their favourite Christmas songs.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said Christmas in the City was the perfect way for the community to come together and celebrate this special time of year.
“On behalf of Council I invite the community to attend this popular free event hosted by the City of Bunbury,” Mayor Brennan said.
“Our events officers have put together a sensational timetable of activities for all to enjoy and there is something for everyone.
“I also wish to acknowledge the community groups and organisations who have come together to make this event possible.”
The RAC Street Parade begins at 5.30pm from the Foreshore car park opposite the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre travelling through the CBD before finishing at 6.45pm at the same location.
People are asked to arrive in town early to find the best vantage point.
The Apprentice and Traineeship Company Carols Concert kicks off from 7pm at the Graham Bricknell Shell and patrons can bring their own picnic blanket and low chairs. If bringing a chair please sit toward the back of the grassed area.
A series of road closures will be in place before, during and after the parade as follows:
- Symmons Street
- Carmody Place
- Clifton Street
- Victoria Street between Prinsep Street and Clifton Street
- Eliot Street
- Blair Street will be closed from Stirling Street to Haley Street from 5pm until 9.30pm
