There’s no need to leave town in order to have some fun this weekend, with a raft of sporting events, markets and a circus being held right here in Bunbury.
The City will be playing host to the Junior Cycling National Championships from Friday to Sunday 21 to 23 September.
This is the first time the event has been held in Bunbury and is expected to draw 250 competitors and their families to the Bunbury Geographe region.
This equates to an average spend of $262 per person resulting in a forecasted $614,250 economic boon for the community.
Head to Ocean Drive between 8am to 4pm on Friday and Sunday to watch the action unfold, a road race will also be held in Dardanup as part of the championships on Saturday.
Another exciting sporting event taking place from Saturday to Monday is the Make Smoking History 2018 State Karting Championship held at the Bunbury City Kart Club.
This event is free for spectators to enjoy with qualifying finals on the Sunday and finals raced on Monday from 8am. About 250 competitors are expected at this event.
Make your way down to Hands Oval on Sunday to show your support for the South West Football League with the Grand Finals being held from 8.30am.
If sport is not your thing the Produce in the Park markets are on this Saturday in Queens Gardens from 8am to 1pm. Grab yourself some delicious, fresh, local and organic produce and eggs.
The markets are the brainchild of the people behind the bi-monthly Bunbury Markets so you can be guaranteed of their quality and attention to detail.
Want somewhere to take the whole family? The Moscow Circus is currently in town and can be found down at Luciana Park adjacent to the Leschenault Inlet. There are matinee, afternoon and evening shows.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the weekend was a sensational way to kick off the new events season and to celebrate spring in the city.

“It is fantastic to have our city recognised as a premier destination for events and this is just the beginning of what is sure to be a stellar events season.”
